Step 6: End the Session
When you are done teaching, End Session sits in the top right. It wraps the session up, records it as having happened, and takes you to a summary.
Read the Confirmation
Spark asks you to confirm, and the message is worth reading:
Are you sure you want to end this session? All students will be removed from the session. Once ended, the session cannot be rejoined.
That last part is the one that catches people. Only use this button when you are genuinely done.
Ending also sets the session’s status to Finished, so Spark treats it as having happened with students in attendance. You will not be asked for a reason.
Stepping Away Is Different
Navigating away mid-session is not the same as ending, and it is not free either. Spark asks you to confirm, removes students, and puts the session on standby. Coming back, you get a Rejoin Session button rather than the session as you left it.
How Students Did
The summary lists each student against the lesson with one of three results:
- Mastered
- Progressing
- Area of Need
Spark calculates these from the work students submitted. You do not enter them.
If students submitted everything and some did not master the lesson, a note above the table names those students and flags that they still need to work on this lesson. It is a heads-up on where each student stands, not a prompt to reteach on the spot.
If the Table Is Empty
It only fills in once students have submitted work. If they did not get far enough, or the session was mostly discussion, you will see a note saying there are no results. That is expected and does not mean anything went wrong.
