How Students Get Assigned to Me
Students appear in your My Students table once they’ve been assigned to you. Assignment is scoped by school: you can be assigned any student at a school you’re assigned to. The student doesn’t need to already be enrolled in one of your Programs, because the assignment itself puts them in a Program alongside you.
Who Assigns Students to You
Your System Manager or District Coordinator does this. It happens on their end, and the students simply appear in your My Students table once the link is made. There’s no request or approval step on your side.
You can’t assign an individual student to yourself, and you can’t remove one from your roster. Those controls aren’t part of the Instructor role.
The One Exception: Bulk Import
If you have a roster of students to get into the platform at once, you can upload them yourself with Bulk Import on the My Students page. Students you import are added to your school and assigned to you. See Importing Students Via CSV.
When a Student Is Missing
If you’re expecting someone and they’re not in your table, one of these is usually true:
- They haven’t been assigned to you yet. Ask your System Manager to assign them.
- They’re at a school you’re not assigned to. Ask your System Manager to add you to that school first.
- You were unassigned. Either way this goes, the student drops off your table: if you were their only Instructor the group is closed out, and if a co-Instructor stayed on the group carries on without you. Ask your System Manager to reassign you.
The roster’s options menu also has a Show Inactive toggle, which brings back rows for groups that have finished. It’s worth a look if a student has simply wrapped up rather than been reassigned.
Sharing a Student
More than one Instructor can be assigned to the same student. If you see other names in the Instructors column of your table, you’re sharing that student and you both see the same records and history. See Sharing a Student with Another Instructor.
